YvtW: More Info on Egypt

Came across something useful for the next YvtW setting in Egypt. Still nothing on those "trials" mentioned earlier, but there's some more description on the weighing of the heart process, which I gather is mucho important. Main points:

"Anubis then weighs the heart of the deceased (left tray) against the feather of Ma'at, goddess of truth and justice (right tray). In some drawings, the full goddess Ma'at, not just her feather, is shown seated on the tray. Note that Ma'at's head, crowned by the feather, also appears atop the fulcrum of the scale. If the heart of the deceased outweighs the feather, then the deceased has a heart which has been made heavy with evil deeds. In that event, Ammit the god with the crocodile head and hippopotamus legs will devour the heart, condemning the deceased to oblivion for eternity. But if the feather outweighs the heart, and then the deceased has led a righteous life and may be presented before Osiris to join the afterlife. Thoth, the ibis-headed god of wisdom stands at the ready to record the outcome."

YvtW: Egyptian Afterlife

Just collating some info here for YvtW. I've decided that *one of* our next destinations will be the Egpytian Afterlife.

YvtW: Pre-post Scene

Not going to post this up until I decide which setting(s) we're going to end up next, but I'll start things off here.

story snippet )

Okay, I think I want a bit of a split up here too... maybe with differing passage of time so that some people who have nothing to write can just get back soon, while other things I need ot have happen will still happen.

I've already decided that Urd had grabbed Elladan (the last to go through the rift) and thus will end up where he is. Not sure about the disposition of the rest of the group, aside from the fact they'll be scattered. Urd's spell never works like she wants to, after all. Thing is, they can be scattered both in different realms, or in different places of the same realm. All I know is that it won't be in anywhere we've been before. Also, I'll need at least one of the original group sent in by Llwella in every subgroup we get split into. I guess I'll decide that later.

YvtW: List of Realms

(Warning: YvtW related entry ahead. Non-CBR/YvtW participants will be hopelessly lost.)

I jotted this down in a brainstorming session (translation: I was bored) some time ago, and then I kept sporadically losing and finding the piece of paper. I figure I better record it down somewhere reliable before I "accidentally" lost it permanently. :p

Anyways, just a list of afterlife realms that I'm familiar with/came up with at the moment. I'll probably add to the list as more possiblities come to mind. Most of them are probably not going to get too much onscreen exploration though. The thought of dragging it on and on with the threat of writers block that can attack me at any time is rather daunting. Probably a few quotes or excerpts to show that we went there; maybe a few mentions or flashbacks that show we went through/spent time there...

YvtW: story post

Arg! And just when I got my next story post figured out. *glares at CBR* Stupid server... and we shelled out money for it too. Hmph. Oh well, I guess I'll just write up a rough draft of my post here, in the grand tradition of journal-using fic writers everywhere.

When last we left off: Our party was gathered at the root of Yggdrasil intersecting Helheim, and was prepared to climb (or fly) our way up aaallll the way to Asgard. (Which actually isn't that far, since the MU Asgard is right above NYC, so we'd only have to reach the Midgard plane, really.)

YvtW: Brainstorm

Okay, I need to take care of some things on both sides. So I'm just gonna jot down some of the ideas that have been free floating around my head all this time.

On the much-languished side with the Search for Locke (:p), I need to get us out of Helheim, since we're kinda stuck there, both in the story and in terms of writer's block. Now, my current thought is to (somehow) have us end up in an afterlife world where we can easily get to other afterlife realms and then come back... so sort of like a hub in the after-life highway. A couple of ideas for that would be:

analysis of possible choices )

But to get to those goals in the first place, we have to finish up in Helheim, and I have no idea how to write the MU Hela... so I guess she'll just have to be a little OOC.

more on immediate plans for story arc )

Meanwhile, Mg wants to continue his side of the storyarc on Middle-earth... which means I probably should have something in place in case he goes nutso and tries to kill everyone. I certainly do *not* want at least the major characters there to be killed off.

more on the ME side of the equation )

I've got a rough ideas of some of the other realms we'll need to visit after we get past the current hurdle, as well as the order in which we ought to visit them in. But that's still a long ways away from the current state of affairs. I'll worry about them later.
